2005 Mentor-Prot'g Nunn Perry award winner by the
Department of Defense (DoD). The annual award recognizes
successes for both Mentor and Prot'g companies that
achieve cost efficiencies, enhance technical
capabilities, and increase small business opportunities
foe DoD prime contracts and subcontracts.
The mentor-prot'g team of
Artech and Booz Allen Hamilton, sponsored by the Defense
Information Systems Agency, was presented the award at
the 2005 Mentor-Prot'g Conference held March 15th
through March 17th at the Wyndham Orlando Resort, in
Orlando, Florida. The DoD Small and Disadvantaged
Business Utilization office sponsored the conference.
The Nunn-Perry Award,
named in recognition of former Senator Sam Nunn and
former Secretary of Defense William Perry, was first
awarded in 1995 to recognize outstanding performance by
Mentor-Prot'g teams formed under the DoD Mentor-Prot'g
"What we see today is the
result of bringing small businesses into the forefront.
We are here to recognize these Mentor-Prot'g teams whose
extraordinary efforts have exceeded their developmental
plan and helped transform the DoD acquisition process,"
stated Frank M. Ramos, Director, Office of Small and
Disadvantaged Business Utilization.
The Mentor-Prot'g program
is the Federal government's leading program for
fostering small business growth by teaming small, high
potential firms as the prot'g, with large firms as the
mentor who are successful government or commercial prime
contractors or subcontractors.
